Sammy D. & The Zone (Into the Night)
This project was recorded in Memphis at different studios. Sounds Unreel and Shoe studios
with Andy Black and Rusty McFarland engineering. Tony Thomas on keyboards writes great
string arrangements and John Lightman and Mike Maffie on bass. Norma Jean Watts on piano
and Jack Rowell on lead guitar and Sammy D. on accoustic guitar fills in all the holes. Chad
Cromwell and Charlie Rogers plays drums on this project. Kent Nolan is also found on keys
on several songs.
What a bunch of great musicians.

"Opening act Sammy D., an area singer, gave an excellent 30-minute set of mostly original material. Such number as "Into The Night" and "Long Delta Lady" were alternately thoughtful and amusing, while "Don't Touch Me" was his commentary on how AIDS has affected the bar/singles scene and "Boogie Baby a straightfoward blues and dance tune.
